A domain name is the label used to identify your Web site, for example spiralsites.com. It normally describes some aspect of your site. It is also easier for your visitors to remember than your Web address, also known as your IP address.
In order for visitors to access your site on the Internet, you must select a unique domain name and register it with an accredited domain name registrar. Spiral Sites can assist you with this process. |

Once the domain name has been registered and payment has been made, it normally takes around 24 - 48 hours for the name to be recognised around the world and it will then be visible to everyone.
At that point any files you have uploaded to your Web space will appear under your domain name. |

Unlike many other hosts We do not charge for this service.
As long as there are no outstanding invoices relating to the domain name in quwestion and the name is not due to expire shortly, simply contact us and we will transfer the name to your new host.
If you are transferring a UK domain such as a .co.uk, We will need to know the new host's UK IPS TAG to allow us to tranfer the name successfully.
If you are transferring a non-UK domain name such as .com .net, Please ask your new host to request a transfer via their Registrar.
If you would like to keep your dmain name administration with Spiral Sites and you simply want the name pointed to a new host all we will need is the primary and secondary name servers of your new host. If you ask them for this they should be able to tell you the information we need.

Because your domain name will represent your business, you should make sure that the name you choose is memorable, descriptive and that it instils confidence, particularly if you plan on selling goods and services on your site.
Your domain name can be up to 67 characters long and can include any combination of letters, numbers and dashes (although it cannot start or end with a dash). A domain name must end with a domain extension, such as .net, .com, .org or .co.uk. The letters “www” at the beginning of a name are not considered part of the domain name. |

You can use common domain extensions such as .com, .net and .co.uk as well as international domain extensions such as .tr, .ch, .us and .au. We can provide hosting for any of these domain types.
We can assist you in registering domains with .com, .net, .org, .co.uk, .info and .biz extensions. (For extensions not listed here, contact info@spiralsites.com for more information.) We cannot, however, register international domains. You will need to take special steps to register an international domain. |
